about

Denver's GLACIAL TOMB take death metal to new heights with their eponymous debut album.

Unrelenting, calculated, and intense, each of the 7 tracks on ‘Glacial Tomb’ see the band draw inspiration from death metal at a time where the genre relied on unforgiving sonic brutality as much as it did masterful musicianship. Tracks such as the opening "Monolithos" and "Witness" see the band club and pummel the listener with some of the heaviest riffs to spawn from the western US, while "Breath of Pestilence" showcases the band's punk rock spirit as they contemplate existential dread, misanthropy, and failure.

Not to be confined to a single sonic identity, much of GLACIAL TOMB's music ebbs and flows throughout the spectrum of the extreme; the group incorporates sludging riffs and angular, dissonant black metal chording into their arsenal. 'Glacial Tomb' is a heavy, at times uncomfortable, album and is one of 2018's most undeniable releases in the genre.

Track Name: Monolithos
memories spread sinewy and pain coagulates
a parasite behind the veil
walls of ice slide in marrow — the flock submits
kneeling before the malformed idol

the last antibodies have faltered, imbalanced on fragmented ground
all that remains are the echoes of sublimity crashing down

the mute void has no horizon

memories spread sinewy and pain coagulates
a parasite behind the veil
walls of ice slide in marrow — the flock submits
kneeling down

we stand by, hesitant,
as the last human remnants
swirl downward into the unknown
in the end, ice takes the place of bone

how long will we maintain the decrepit cult of a spectre impervious to our pleas?

ice takes the place of bone
Track Name: Breath of Pestilence
traders in flesh
traders in flesh
traitors — hovering constantly
traitors — debased carnalities

haunted by the memory, her dreams are fraught
twisted hands and rotting grins surround her, promising rot

traders in flesh
traders in flesh
traitors — hovering constantly
traitors — debased carnalities

lie in wait

lie — he feeds on her infancy
lie — a perverse pageantry
infest — our famished thoughts
infect — the breath of pestilence

left hollow by his touch, she has but one need
twisted limbs and rotting skin engulf her, now she bleeds
Track Name: Sunless Dawn
blinded and broken by loss, the flesh stretches thin
across the edges for we are amalgamations
of forgotten dreams and incomplete miseries
failure incarnate, the grand destroyers

the skies above us burn with the memories of those we’ve abandoned

the ephemeral is all we have
all we have returns to dust

your legacy is merely one of regret and remorse
reduced to ash, scattered and forgotten
your absence, a tumor, consumed the stars
spreading through the limbs of existence

the skies above us burn in a sunless dawn eternal
the skies above us burn much like our father’s kingdom

time spent waiting for salvation
from suffering without end
the hubris that it takes to believe this horror
holds some meaning some imagined purpose
beyond simply not being dead
beyond simply not being dead yet

the ephemeral is all we have
all we have returns to dust

the skies above us burn
Track Name: Witness
we are the cancer in the heart of the world
we dream of crimson death eternal

behold a pale horse, a rider, a witness to the fall
behold a prophecy, a promise that hell is better than we deserve

hell is here

starve steal covet corrupt

we find no savior, no hope for this world
we welcome crimson death eternal

behold a pale horse, a rider, a witness to the fall
behold a prophecy, a promise that hell is better than we deserve
Track Name: Of Flesh and Worship
in an anemic glacier they think they found the truth
with their circulation wilted and broken
they kept the beat as the ice had emoted
to stop the cognitive erosion

within frozen blood, the ice at its most ferocious
lies the confluence of flesh and worship

they think they’ve found the truth
we think we’ve found them
you think you found the truth
I think I found you

as the earth vomits blood, its guts on our jaws
the individual experience is a hostile, indifferent existence
Track Name: Drowned
she dreamt of forever, of her name on the lips of the gods in a world filled with light
she was not an artist, but with one bullet birthed a crimson mural

dripping slowly, a river of blood, teeth, and hair
hands drag her downward, gasping for air

her light fades

a daughter ripped from the void, left adrift in the sea
nameless and abandoned — in the undertow she is free
traumas crash around her like waves
tides draw her into darkness — a welcome grave

she dreamt of forever, of her name on the lips of the gods, of not drowning alone
she was not an artist, but with one bullet birthed a crimson mural

we all drown alone

with the first shot, she made him her masterpiece
and with the second, she signed her name

she signed her name
Track Name: Shackled to the Burning Earth
when night obscures the course of hours, we fear what sleep might exhume
the vessel is but a breathing corpse enshrouded, entombed

my body no longer drifts in the lake of sorrow, but my spirit withers in the absence of light

shackled to the burning earth our bones are charred
my fingers seek the wretched truth my eyes seek the marks of scars

beneath the soil, find not a memory
but a tiresome existence reduced to a carcass

let them spread our ashes together beneath the dying heavens

my body no longer drifts in the lake of sorrow, but my spirit withers in the absence of light
